Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about using AudioSlice to cut, trim, join, and download audio — right in your browser.
General
Yes. AudioSlice is completely free. There are no sign-ups, no
subscriptions, and no hidden fees. We display ads to keep the
service running.
No. All audio processing happens entirely in your browser using
the Web Audio API. Your files are decoded locally in memory and
never sent to any server. Your recordings remain completely
private.
AudioSlice works in any modern browser that supports the Web Audio
API. This includes Chrome 66+, Firefox 76+, Safari 14.1+, and Edge
79+. Internet Explorer is not supported.
There is no hard limit set by AudioSlice. The practical limit
depends on your device's available RAM. Very large files (1 GB+)
may cause slower decoding or be limited by your browser's memory
constraints.
Supported Formats
AudioSlice supports
MP3, WAV,
OGG, FLAC, M4A,
AAC, and WebM audio files. Format
support ultimately depends on your browser's codec capabilities.
AudioSlice exports edited audio as a
WAV file (PCM
16-bit, original sample rate). WAV is used to preserve maximum
quality regardless of the input format. You can convert the WAV to
MP3 or other formats using a converter after downloading.
Yes, FLAC is supported in most modern browsers. Chrome and Firefox
handle FLAC natively. Safari may require macOS 14+ for FLAC
decoding via the Web Audio API.
Editing
Click and drag directly on the waveform to create a selection. The
selected region will be highlighted in amber. On touch devices,
use a single-finger drag gesture. You can start a new drag at any
time to replace the current selection.
Cut Selection (✂) removes the highlighted region
and joins the audio before and after it. Use this to remove
unwanted sections.
Keep Selection (⬛) discards everything outside your selection, leaving only the highlighted part. Use this to isolate a specific clip.

Yes. Each cut or keep operation is applied to the current audio
buffer. You can make multiple sequential edits. After each edit,
select a new region and cut again. Use the Undo button to step
back through your edit history.
Each time you make an edit (Cut or Keep), the previous audio state
is saved to an undo stack. Clicking Undo (or pressing
Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z) restores the previous
state. Up to 30 steps are stored.
Yes. Upload multiple files using the upload zone. Each file
appears in the file list. Click the + button on any file to load
it into the waveform, edit it, then use
Join & Export All to merge and
download the result.
Privacy & Data
No. AudioSlice stores audio only in browser memory during your
session. When you close or refresh the tab, all audio data is
discarded. Nothing is written to disk or sent to a server.
